DO YOU QUALIFY FOR THE EARNED INCOME CREDIT?
Many Iowans, who could qualify, fail to apply for the earned income
tax credit. The credit is refundable, so even if your tax liability is
less than the credit, the difference will be refunded to you.
The maximum credit for the US Earned Income Credit is $382 for a
household with no children, $2,547 with one child, and $4,204 with two
or more children. Specific amounts will vary according to earned income
and filing status. A worker with no children must have income under
$11,230, or $12,230 for married workers. A worker with one child must
have income under $29,666, or $30,666 for married workers. A single
worker with more than one child must earn less than $33,692, or $34,692
for married workers.
