E-FILERS GET FASTER TAX REFUNDS

Most Iowans are eligible to file electronically their Iowa and federal tax returns and many may be able to "e-file" free of charge. Advantages of e-filing are more accurate processing, faster refunds - days instead of weeks or months, direct deposit of your refund to your bank account, and government spends fewer of your tax dollars processing returns.

Electronic tax filing options include:

1. E-file U.S. and Iowa returns through a tax preparer, usually for a fee. Some are also IRS registered for direct deposit. A list is available on the IRS web site at: www.irs.gov. 2. E-file U.S. and Iowa returns using certified software or tax web sites - some of which allow free filing for certain taxpayers.
